By Tom Venuto, Burn The Fat

QUESTION: Tom, Is it possible to not lose body fat because you’re eating too little?
-Linda

ANSWER: Yes and no. This gets a little complicated so let me explain both sides.

Part one of my answer: I say NO, because if you are in a calorie deficit you WILL lose weight.

Most people have heard anecdotes of the dieter who claims to be eating 800 calories a day or some starvation diet level of intake that is clearly in a deficit and yet is not losing fat. Like the mythical unicorn, such an animal does not exist.

Every time you take a person like that and put them in a hospital research center or metabolic ward where their food can be counted, weighed, measured and almost literally “spoon fed” to them, a calorie deficit always produces weight loss.

There are no exceptions, except possibly in rare diseases or mutations. Even then metabolic or hormonal defects or diseases merely lead to energy imbalance via increases in appetite, decreases in energy expenditure or changes in energy partitioning. So at the end of the day it’s STILL calories in versus calories out.

In other words, NO – it’s NOT your thyroid (unless you’ve got a confirmed diagnosis as such…and then guess what… it’s STILL calories in vs calories out, you’re just not burning as many as someone should at your height and weight).

One famous study that was published in the New England Journal of Medicine years ago proved this point rather dramatically. After studying obese people – selected specifically because they swore they were eating less than 1200 calories but could not lose weight – Steven Lichtman and his colleages at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York came to the following conclusion:

“The failure of some obese subjects to lose weight while eating a diet they report as low in calories is due to an energy intake substantially higher than reported and an overestimation of physical activity, not to an abnormality in thermogenesis.”

That’s right – the so-called “diet-resistant” subjects were eating more than they thought and moving less than they thought. This was probably the single best study ever published that debunks the “I’m in a calorie deficit but I can’t lose weight” myth:

Part two of my answer, YES, because:

Diabetes is caused due to high blood sugar level. This is caused because of the inappropriate insulin production in the body by pancreas. The symptoms of both the type of diabetes are similar to each other. If there is low insulin production, the symptoms are seen and can be identified whether the insulin level is high or low. Once diabetes is treated, the symptoms are relived quickly. Diabetes should be treated immediately so that there will not be any serious health problem later on because of it.

Symptoms for Type 1 diabetes are vomiting and nausea. Later if the Type 1 diabetes is not diagnosed and medicated properly it leads to ketoacidosis where fat and muscle tissue starts breaking and leads to weight loss. Dehydration is another symptom seen in this type of diabetes. This is caused because of the electrolyte disturbance. Future stages lead to coma and then finally death. Type 1 diabetes is caused when pancreas stop making insulin. This happens due to viral attack on pancreas or autoimmune response. Due to shortage of insulin, body cells that produce ATP (Adenosin Triphosphate) do not get adequate quantity of glucose.

There are many symptoms seen in Type 2 diabetes. Increased fatigue is the primary symptom seen for Type 2 diabetes. This is caused due to ineffective cell for metabolizing glucose. Weight fluctuation is another symptom that is seen in Type 2. This is because of glucosuria, loss of water, etc. weight gain can also be seen because of increased appetite. Another symptom is blur vision. This happens when body fluid is pulled out of the tissues. Thi8s is known as Hyperosmolar hyperglycemia nonketotic syndrome. High blood sugar level stops the flourishing count of white blood cells that lead to slow healing of wounds. Prolonged diabetes will lead to thickening of blood vessels.

If you are like me you tend to gain a little weight around the holidays. Too many exceptions are usually made at parties or for traditional holiday foods that bring back good memories. The danger is that these exceptions carry on longer than the holidays and lead to making more exceptions and can gradually turn into habits. We tend to develop a taste for high fat and sugar foods that have very little nutritional value but are loaded with calories and can rack up the pounds very quickly.

I have developed some basic strategies and tips to help you turn around any bad eating habits that may have developed over the holidays.

“Seed Producing” plants make resveratrol, a phyto estrogen, when they are under attack by disease or fungus. It’s like an antibiotic for plants. But not all plants make it.

Grapes (and the red wine made from them), Japanese Knotweed and Peanuts seem to be the most common, usable resveratrol products. Are they the best resveratrol products though?

From an absorption point of view, red wine is the best resveratrol product. Resveratrol is best absorbed in the mouth, known as buccal absorption, and the method of swishing red wine in your mouth before swallowing is nature’s perfect gift. If you’re looking for wines with the highest resveratrol content, you’re going to have to do some research.

The absolute highest are the wines whose vintners left the skins in the fermentation process longer than 10 days – but that’s not easy information to find. The second best indicator is a wine grown in the mountains or in the north where fungus is more likely and thus more resveratrol was produced. But, you’re really better off if you just stick with the red wine you enjoy drinking.

Then comes peanuts. Peanuts happen to be high in resveratrol. And did you know that people who consumed nuts regularly, had lower body mass indexes? So, don’t worry about the fat content.

Finally, there really are only supplements left. Pills, powders and drinks. Resveratrol is absorbed best in the mouth, so toss out pills immediately. Since they’re only 20% absorbable as it is, they’re even less effective for resveratrol. Powders and drinks are somewhat the same since you mix powders with water. But there are a lot of drinks out there too.

If you find a drink you like, make sure it doesn’t have too much sugar. 100% grape juice would be ideal. And ideally, you’ll want to find one that’s individually packaged. Once you open the jar, the oxygen will neutralize the resveratrol antioxidants and glasses 3, 4 and 4 will be worthless. That goes with powders, too. Find one where the powders are individually packaged – and you’ll find gold.

Using natural acne remedies is one of the many options that you have to help combat against acne and acne breakouts. This is a skin condition that affects millions of people around the world and can really be painful both physically and emotionally. No one wants to go to work or school with pimples all over their face especially when people start noticing. This can be embarrassing. Well it doesn’t have to be this way any longer.

There are plenty of natural acne remedies that are proven to work and a lot of them have to do with eliminating a couple of bad habits and replace them with good ones. These natural acne remedies are simple to implement, are safer, and cheaper than if you were to take an acne medication.

There are quite a few problems if you decide to go the route of taking any type of acne medication whether it’s a pill or cream. The first one is that you need to be aware of unpleasant side effects which can range from being only mild to more severe. Some of the mild ones that you may experience are itchiness, dryness, flaking, etc. Some of the more severe ones can be depression, headaches, and possibly cause worse acne conditions.

Another problem is trying to find an acne treatment product that works and best fits your type of acne problem. This can be difficult seeing how there are so many products being advertised. Using natural acne remedies work for all people because it treats acne at the source and the surface not just the surface like many acne products. Even if you did find an acne treatment that works, most times it will only work temporarily because it only treats acne only at the source.

Here are some natural acne cures that you can use to start your journey in fighting acne:

Drink Water – Drinking more water will help to get rid of harmful toxins in your body that can contribute to you having acne. So get rid of the sodas and juices and drink plenty of water daily.

Eat Healthier – In order to function properly, your body along with your skin needs its daily vitamins and minerals. Avoid oily and fatty food intake and consume for foods that are rich in vitamin, minerals, and anti-oxidants.

Daily Exercise – This helps to get the blood pumping to deliver the goods (vitamins and minerals) to the skin as well as help to get rid of toxins through sweat.

These three ways can be considered natural acne cures because they will help to cleanse the body from the inside. Other natural acne cures that work on the surface on where the acne is, are cleaning the face with a gently soap, avoid makeup, lotions and anything that can clog the pores. You can also clean your towels and pillows more often to get rid of the oils and dirt that accumulate on them overtime.

These are only a few of the natural acne cures that you can implement. They really are simple and making them a habit will only be beneficial not only to curing your acne, but your overall lifestyle. There is no reason to risk taking acne drugs, pill, or creams when you know that there are natural acne cures that can be used to combat against this common skin condition.
